About Roma Optima

Hi, my name is Viktor and I am the founder of Roma Optima.

Ever since I can remember, I have been fascinated by ancient Rome. I spent countless hours playing Rome: Total War, wrote a high school thesis on Roman kings and got useful tips for picking up girls from Ovid. It was not a coincidence that the first dog in our family was called Caesar.

Even though I never pursued a career as a classicist and ended up working in marketing, the passion for the Roman Empire never left me. I realized I am hardly the only one. There must be thousands of people like me in the world. People who admire the military genius of Caesar, the rhetorics of Cicero, the virtuousness of Lucretia or even the appetite of Lucullus.

For the people who have the same passion for antiquity as I have, I decided to create this website. It is supposed to be a place where one could find interesting content about the Romans and their times, but also ancient Greece and other ancient civilisations.

Note: Roma Optima aims to reach as many fans of ancient Rome around the globe as it can. I have decided to use English as its language, despite the fact that I am not a native speaker. Please forgive the occasional mistakes.
